Story Guide
This page is meant to be a general guide for the stories that I post on this site.
Universes
The Jacob and Chris stories take place across multiple versions of reality, each with its own tone, rules, and consequences.
Canon
The main timeline is set in 2012 in Brea, California. Realistic (-ish), slice-of-life, and emotionally grounded. Chris, Jacob, and Danny navigate high school, friendships, and everyday challenges.
Non-Canon
Alternate branches or “what-if” scenarios. These may deepen character insight, push emotional extremes, provide comic relief, or explore entirely different genres of writing. Examples include horror one-offs, "What if Chris never met Jacob?", and other weird twists that would break reality, normalcy, or canon.
Alternate Universes (AUs)
Self-contained timelines that rewrite the rules. Many of these are not yet published and are still being worked on. Can you tell that I jump from project to project a lot?
Star Trek
Status: Not published
A 24th-century Federation setting focused on healing and cultural adjustment. Chris and Danny feature as the main set of characters as a pair of brothers from a crime-riddled planet. Chris secured passage from their home world to Earth, leaving behind their father. This AU is meant to explore the civilian side of Star Trek from an immigrant's POV.
SCP-5000
Status: Not published
A tense survival scenario during the events of SCP-5000.
War of the Worlds
Status: Not published
Pretty self-explanatory. This is based on the 2005 War of the Worlds movie, but with the what-if being "What if this took place in suburban Southern California in 2012?"
Superpowers: Electric Beginnings
Status: Not published
A chaotic, heartfelt take on sudden magical abilities, romance, and high school drama.
Other Experimental AUs
Including Mana & Metal, Animorphs, and short one-off concepts.
Setting
These stories mostly take place entirely within 2012's Brea, California, and the surrounding areas.
Primary Location
The central backdrop is Brea-Olinda High School. A hilltop campus with a mix of academic buildings, athletic fields, and social hotspots. The school has a strong spirit culture, academic life, unique programmes, and interesting geography.
Important Locations
- Chris & Danny’s House
- A modest single-storey home in a low-middle-income neighbourhood, shared with their strict but caring dad. They share a bedroom and most of their downtime.
- Jacob’s House
- A spacious two-storey 1970s home with a pool, often serving as a hangout spot for the group.
Characters
- Chris Torres, 15
- Wiry, full of restless energy, and a confident troublemaker on the surface. Sarcastic, impulsive, and deflective when vulnerable. Wears casual graphic tees, skinny jeans, and sneakers. Shares a deep bond with Jacob, mixing playful teasing with unspoken care.
- Jacob Adams, 16
- A tall, relaxed skater with natural charm. Confident and easygoing, but hides insecurity about his intelligence. Dresses in loose shirts, flannels, jeans or shorts. Rarely rattled, but quietly supportive when things get serious.
- Danny Torres, 14
- Chris’s younger brother. Laid-back, mildly messy, and more reserved around strangers. Shares Chris’s casual style and bedroom and often mirrors his habits. Can be stubborn when pushed.
- Recurring Side Characters
- Friends, classmates, and teachers populate BOHS and surrounding areas. Examples include Brennan (drummer, mutual friend of Chris’s circle), James (tech-savvy, in the LGBT Club), and Officer Moon (BOHS’s well-liked school police officer).
Canon vs Non-Canon?
Canon
These stories form the baseline reality. Think of it like the main timeline. No supernatural twists, minimal high drama, and all events fit a realistic 2012 high school experience.
Non-Canon
These stories explore alternate emotional outcomes, heightened drama, or hypothetical scenarios. They may include:
- Character actions or relationships that never happen in canon.
- Escalated or experimental emotional beats.
- Situations written purely for humour or catharsis.
- One-offs that go by entirely different rules (like horror).
Alternate Universes
These rewrite the rules entirely! Changing the setting, genre, or even the world’s physics. They can be fantastical, dystopian, or comedic, but they don’t affect canon continuity. I will admit that these tend to take up a lot of my mental time when thinking about this writing project, but that's just because they're fun!
